Making console versions was the impetus Larian needed to rectify various issues it had - and the community had - with Divinity: Original Sin 2. Not exactly laboratory conditions but it got the point across. They'll also help the base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game achieve 1080p30 performance even during split-screen play.
